The Pescapuerta Group, with over 60 years of leadership in the frozen fish sector, has established itself as a global leader, committed to quality, food safety, the environment, and ethical and social responsibility.

The company strives to be the leading operator in quality frozen-food products, supplying products that are safe and authentic, complying with legal requirements and meeting customer expectations. Its business model combines economic growth with environmental sustainability and a commitment to ethics.

Principles of Corporate Governance include:

  • Prioritising food safety and quality, guaranteeing consumer protection.
  • Respecting environmental sustainability, protecting biodiversity and mitigating climate change.
  • Acting with social and ethical responsibility towards direct and indirect clients.
  • Always operating under principles of legality and transparency.

Top management secures the necessary resources, fosters a culture of quality and continuous improvement, motivates staff and disseminates this policy throughout the organisation. This approach strengthens the company’s commitment to excellence and sustainability in the frozen-food sector.

IFS Broker Certification

The Group first obtained IFS Broker Certification, an internationally recognised standard in supplier qualification for large retail outlets, in 2020. This year, its three companies reached one of the highest ratings: 99.60%.

The goal of IFS Broker Certification is to guarantee the food safety of products through establishing control systems that identify and manage possible risks. It’s based on the implementation of the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and on the commitment by top management to ensure the trade of healthy food products.

This standard applies to any manufacturing, handling or packaging processes where there is a risk of contamination, and covers areas such as top management responsibility, quality and safety management, service scheduling, improvement analysis and product defence assessment.

IFS Broker certification reinforces the Group’s commitment to food safety and ongoing improvement, consolidating it as a benchmark in the sector and guaranteeing safe, top-quality products for consumers.

MSC Certification

MSC Certification guarantees the proper management of fishing companies, protecting marine resources and fisheries-related livelihoods for future generations. This seal, based on the FAO Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries, is recognised as the most prestigious standard in sustainability, developed with the participation of governments, NGOs, universities and fisheries experts.

The benefits of certification include increased prestige, visibility, access to new markets, livelihood protection and opportunities for improved fishing practices and stakeholder dialogue.

The Pescapuerta Group obtained this certification in 2020 for shallow-water Cape hake from the Namibian fishing grounds, extending it in 2021 to include its manufacturing, storage and distribution processes through the chain of custody. Since 2023, the standard has also included labour aspects, promoting ethical practices and respect for human rights, reinforcing social sustainability in the fishing industry.

MSC Certification reinforces commitment to responsible fishing, meeting the growing global demand for sustainable products.
